Alabama Power Worker Dies from Falling Tree Incident

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Jeffrey Scott Duffie, a 57-year-old contractor for Alabama Power, tragically died on Saturday after being struck by a falling tree while making power line repairs.
The incident occurred shortly before 10:30 a.m. in the 1900 block of 21st Avenue South in Birmingham. Duffie, a resident of Daviston, was working for Utility Line Construction Services at the time of the accident.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service personnel pronounced Duffie dead at the scene. In addition to Duffie, another individual was injured during the incident and was transported to a local hospital. Officials have not released information regarding the injured person’s condition.
The circumstances surrounding the accident are under investigation. Alabama Power expressed condolences to Duffie’s family and assured safety measures would be reviewed.
