Alina Habba Defends Trump Amid Hush Money Case Delay and Campaign Involvement
Alina Habba, a prominent attorney for former President Donald Trump, has been at the forefront of defending Trump in the ongoing New York hush money case. Following a recent delay in Trump’s sentencing, Habba criticized the case, calling it “a joke” and advocating for its dismissal.
The delay, granted by Judge Juan Merchan, pushes Trump’s sentencing to November 26, ensuring that the presidential election is not affected by the judgment. Habba expressed her dissatisfaction with the decision, arguing that the case is flawed and should be completely admonished. She also suggested that the judge should be admonished for not recusing himself and for continuing to pursue a case that she believes wastes taxpayer dollars.
Habba’s comments came during an appearance on Fox News‘s Sean Hannity show, where she discussed the implications of the Supreme Court‘s recent ruling on presidential immunity. According to Habba, this ruling largely shields former presidents from criminal prosecution for actions taken while in office, further supporting her argument that the case against Trump is flawed.
In addition to her legal advocacy, Habba has been a key figure in Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, serving as a legal spokesman and expressing her commitment to supporting Trump. On social media, she reiterated her loyalty, stating, “Proud to always have your back Mr. President. #45 #47 Now we get to work and save America.
Trump was convicted by a New York jury on 34 counts of falsifying business records related to a hush money payment made to an adult film star during the 2016 election. Despite the conviction, Habba and Trump’s legal team argue that the jury improperly used evidence protected under the Supreme Court’s ruling on presidential immunity).
