Allegiant Airlines Announces Major Expansion with 44 New Routes and Three New Cities
Allegiant Air has unveiled a significant expansion, introducing 44 new routes and adding three new cities to its network. This major rollout, announced on November 19, 2024, includes the addition of Gulf Shores International Airport (GUF) in Alabama, Colorado Springs Airport (COS) in Colorado, and Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE) in South Carolina.
The new flights will begin in February 2025, with introductory fares ranging from $39 to $79 available through Wednesday for travel until July 25, 2025. This expansion is part of Allegiant’s strategy to capitalize on robust leisure demand and provide ultra-low-cost airfare to underserved communities with limited or no air service.
Gulf Shores International Airport, a lesser-known facility, will see six new routes starting in May 2025, making Allegiant the sole airline serving this airport. This move aligns with Allegiant’s tactic of establishing bases in smaller airports to avoid competition from larger carriers. The Gulf Shores location is strategically positioned along Alabama’s Gulf Coast, near popular beach resorts in the Florida Panhandle.
Other notable additions include eight new routes for Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) in Florida, four new routes each for Portland International Airport (PDX) in Oregon and Dulles International Airport (IAD) in Virginia. The expansion will bring Allegiant’s total destinations to 51 cities across the country.
Drew Wells, Allegiant’s chief commercial officer, emphasized the airline’s commitment to meeting customer demand for affordability and convenience. This expansion reflects Allegiant’s focus on connecting more cities and providing low-cost fares, especially during peak leisure travel periods such as holidays, summer, weekends, and school breaks.
