Perth, Australia – NBA legend Allen Iverson has been announced as a special guest for the upcoming HoopsFest, a multi-day basketball celebration taking place in Western Australia from January 15 to 18, 2026.

Iverson, an 11-time NBA All-Star and Hall of Famer, will serve as an ambassador for the event, which highlights basketball, culture, and lifestyle alongside full rounds of the National Basketball League (NBL) and Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) seasons. This year marks the second consecutive HoopsFest in Perth.

“Basketball has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, and it’s powerful to see how the game continues to bring people together,” Iverson said in a statement. He emphasized Australia’s growing role in global basketball, noting, “Events like HoopsFest show just how strong the future of the game is, not just here, but everywhere.”

The festival will feature various activities, including a sneaker festival called Sneakerland and the debut of the ‘HoopsFest Cup,’ a national tournament where players can compete for $50,000 in prize money. NBL Chief Event and Project Officer Alex Hamilton expressed enthusiasm about the event’s return and Iverson’s involvement. “Having a global icon like Allen Iverson join us only adds to the excitement,” he said.

Western Australian Tourism Minister Reece Whitby added, “HoopsFest not only gives us the opportunity to showcase our world-class sporting facilities, but also highlights Western Australia as an incredible tourism destination.” He described January as the perfect time to visit Perth, with its sunny weather and vibrant local attractions.

All the competitive action will occur at the RAC Arena and other venues throughout Perth, promising to attract thousands of basketball fans from interstate. Tickets for HoopsFest are available online.
