Angela Rippon Reflects on Her Career at the BBC and Plans to Continue Working
Renowned television presenter Angela Rippon recently opened up about her professional journey at the BBC and her determination to continue working in the entertainment industry. Despite encountering some challenges during her time with the broadcasting company, Rippon revealed that her experience has largely been positive.
Speaking exclusively to a news outlet, the 79-year-old star reflected on her long association with the BBC, particularly in her role as the host of ‘Rip Off Britain‘ for the past 16 years. She emphasized the strong bond she has developed with the production team, considering them as lifelong friends.
Rippon acknowledged that although she works for a large organization like the BBC, she primarily works closely with individual production teams rather than feeling like a small part of a massive entity. However, her perception of being a part of the BBC becomes more apparent when she interacts with people from different countries who express their admiration and respect for the broadcaster and its World Service.
Having kick-started her career as a newsreader for the BBC in 1974, Rippon has since expanded her horizons, working for other notable networks such as ITV, Channel 4, Channel Five, CBS in the United States, and Channel Seven in Australia. She emphasized that while the BBC is her current employer, she has cherished her experiences with different networks and has formed meaningful relationships with various colleagues throughout her television journey.
Undoubtedly, Rippon’s career reached new heights when she became the oldest contestant in the history of the popular dance show ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. Admiring her tenacity and passion for her profession, Rippon expressed her desire to continue working for as long as opportunity knocks on her door.
Refusing to retire, the energetic presenter shared that she feels extremely fortunate to be constantly approached with exciting projects that others would envy. She mentioned that as long as she receives enticing offers and finds joy in her work, there is no reason for her to step back. Rippon’s love for her job plays a significant role in keeping her youthful and motivated.
