Angels Considering Trades to Bolster Roster for 2026 Season
Los Angeles, CA – The Los Angeles Angels are weighing significant changes this offseason as they look to improve their roster for the 2026 season. Reports suggest that the team may be open to trading key contributors Jo Adell and Taylor Ward.
Both players were pivotal in the Angels’ lineup during the 2025 season. Adell, who led the team with 37 home runs and 98 RBIs, is drawing interest in the trade market, given his young age and two years of team control remaining. His performance placed him above league average for the first time in his career, making him a valuable asset.
“His trade value is the highest it’s been since he was drafted in the first round back in 2017,” said an insider familiar with the Angels’ situation. Meanwhile, Ward, who tallied 36 home runs and a career-high 103 RBIs in 2025, is a sought-after player due to his smaller contract.
The Angels have pressing needs, particularly in center field, third base, and their pitching staff. Moving one of their outfielders could provide the flexibility to address these gaps. With the MLB General Managers’ Meetings currently underway, teams including the Kansas City Royals have expressed interest in acquiring talents like Adell and Ward.
Angels executive Perry Minasian recently acknowledged the challenge of balancing offensive contributions with defensive capabilities. “We’ve got some guys that we feel like are really impact offensive players that can play the outfield,” Minasian said. “And we’ve got some other guys that could be impactful on the defensive side.”
As the offseason progresses, the Angels are expected to make moves not just to improve immediately but to strengthen their farm system. With a large number of player contracts expiring after the 2026 season, Moreno’s strategy remains uncertain. The Angels are in a position where they could either seek immediate gains or build for future success through trades.
Recent reports indicate that several teams are keen to trade for either Adell or Ward, and experts suggest that now could be the time for the Angels to capitalize on their trade value.
