Anglican Women Leaders Call for Worship and Praise on Mothering Sunday
Mrs Angela Ndukuba, Wife of the Primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), has urged women to engage in constant worship and praise, regardless of the prevailing circumstances in the country.
Ndukuba, who holds the position of President in both the Women’s Guild and Mothers’ Union of the Church, conveyed this message during the annual Mothers’ Day celebration and Mothering Sunday at Our Saviours Anglican Church in Durumi, Abuja.
Emphasizing this year’s theme of ‘Ruth: the Virtuous Daughter in Law,’ Ndukuba encouraged women to mirror the exemplary actions of the biblical Ruth, who exhibited unwavering dedication and hard work in providing for her family after the loss of her husband.
Ndukuba further stressed the essence of love and tolerance, especially within families, urging for healing and reconciliation among family members during this special occasion.
Diving into the Bible studies, Mrs Keziah Philips advised women to uphold honesty and focus as they navigate through life, drawing inspiration from the biblical teachings of Ruth and Naomi.
Expressing concern over the escalating family tensions between daughters-in-law and mothers-in-law, Philips highlighted the need for compassionate care within families, discouraging deceit and the allure of following popular but wrong paths.
Delivering the sermon for the Mothering Sunday service, Mrs Chikodi Okorie, the Vicar’s wife and Vice-President of the Michers Union/Women’s Guild, echoed the call for women to emulate the harmonious and loving relationship demonstrated by Ruth and Naomi.
Okorie emphasized the importance of faithfulness and loyalty in maintaining healthy family dynamics, urging women to nurture their families and instill a God-fearing attitude among household members amidst challenging times.
The Women at the event also initiated a special fund for women’s projects within the church, promoting collaboration and empowerment among the women of the congregation.
