Anne Hathaway has confirmed her return to the beloved role of Mia Thermopolis in “The Princess Diaries 3.” Fans of the popular franchise, which depicts the transformation of an ordinary teenager into the Princess of Genovia, can celebrate Hathaway’s announcement as production of the third installment is officially underway. Variety reported on this significant development on October 4, stating that Adele Lim, known for her work on “Crazy Rich Asians” and “Joyride,” will direct the film.

The announcement puts an end to years of speculation and uncertainty surrounding Hathaway’s involvement in the project and the film’s progress. On social media, Hathaway uploaded a playful video that resonated with fans of the series. In the video, the actress is seen counting to three with her fingers, symbolizing the third film, along with intercut clips from the first two movies in the franchise.
