Anne Hathaway to Star in Colleen Hoover’s Psychological Thriller ‘Verity’ Movie Adaptation
In a significant announcement, Amazon MGM Studios has revealed that Anne Hathaway will star in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling psychological thriller, ‘Verity’. Hathaway will play the role of Verity Crawford, a famous thriller author who is unable to complete her series of books due to a mysterious accident. The film will be directed by Michael Showalter, who previously collaborated with Hathaway on the adaptation of Robinne Lee’s ‘The Idea of You‘.
The story follows Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer hired by Jeremy Crawford, Verity’s husband, to complete the remaining books in Verity’s successful series. Upon arriving at the Crawford estate, Lowen discovers a secret, unfinished manuscript that may reveal chilling admissions about the family’s past. As Lowen becomes more involved with Jeremy and his young son Crew, she must determine whether Verity’s writings are mere fiction or ominous warnings from a deranged psychopath.
The script for ‘Verity’ is being written by Nick Antosca, following previous drafts by Hillary Seitz, Angela LaManna, Will Honley, and April Maguire. The film will be produced by a team including Hathaway, Hoover, Showalter, Nick Antosca, Alex Hedlund, Jordana Mollick, Stacey Sher, and Lauren Levine. ‘Verity’ is set for a theatrical release, marking a departure from the streaming-only release of ‘The Idea of You’.
Colleen Hoover’s works have recently seen significant success on the big screen, with the adaptation of her novel ‘It Ends With Us‘ earning $346 million worldwide earlier this year. The anticipation for ‘Verity’ is high, given Hoover’s popularity and the success of her previous adaptations.
While the release date for ‘Verity’ has not been announced, the casting of Anne Hathaway and the reunion with director Michael Showalter suggest that more news will be forthcoming in the near future.
