Anne Hathaway Stars in Colleen Hoover’s ‘Verity’ Adaptation
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Anne Hathaway is set to captivate audiences once again as she takes on the lead role in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover‘s bestselling thriller novel, “Verity.” The movie, which promises a gripping narrative of drama and suspense, will see Hathaway portray Verity Crawford, a character entangled in a dark and mysterious family tale. The actress is also serving as one of the film’s producers.
According to PEOPLE, the story follows struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh, who accepts a job to complete the unfinished works of Verity Crawford after an accident leaves Verity unable to write. As Lowen delves into the Crawford estate, she uncovers chilling secrets hidden within Verity’s manuscript, forcing her to question whether the revelations are fiction or warnings from a disturbed mind.
Hathaway reunites with director Michael Showalter, with whom she previously collaborated on “The Idea of You,” which debuted earlier this year. Their partnership highlights Hathaway’s return to literary adaptations, following the box-office success of Hoover’s “It Ends with Us.” Fans are already anticipating future adaptations, including “Reminders of Him,” slated for release in 2026.
Beyond her film projects, Hathaway continues to defy aging stereotypes. At 42, her seemingly ageless appearance has sparked admiration and playful speculation on social media. Fans have jokingly dubbed her a “vampire,” with one commenting, “She looks so good,” and another adding, “It’s either amazing skincare or she’s not aging at all!”
Hathaway’s career spans iconic roles in films like “The Princess Diaries,” “The Devil Wears Prada,” and “Les Misérables,” showcasing her versatility and enduring appeal. While she remains private about her personal life, she recently shared a light-hearted moment on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” playfully entertaining a fan theory that her husband, Adam Shulman, might be the reincarnation of William Shakespeare. “It would be great if it were true,” Hathaway quipped, “but even if it’s not, it’s still kinda’ great.”
Looking ahead, Hathaway is reportedly working on a sequel to “The Devil Wears Prada” and a third installment of “The Princess Diaries.” With more Colleen Hoover adaptations in the pipeline, Hathaway’s presence in Hollywood remains as vibrant as ever, ensuring her fans will continue to follow her career for years to come.
