Annette Bening Speaks Out On Advocating For Her Trans Son

Acclaimed actress Annette Bening has opened up about her decision to advocate for her trans son and speak openly about his gender identity. Bening, known for her roles in films such as ‘American Beauty‘ and ‘Nyad,’ shared her reasons on the popular talk show ‘The View.’ She highlighted how the current political climate has unfairly used trans people to fuel fear. Bening emphasized the importance of a strong opposition and the need to reject fearmongering.

Bening, who is a Democrat, expressed her frustration with the exploitation of trans individuals for political gain. Speaking on her personal experience as a mother, Bening explained that she initially valued her son Stephen Ira Beatty’s privacy due to their status as children of famous parents. However, as time passed, she realized the power and responsibility of sharing his story to advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community.

In a previous interview with AARP, Bening described her pride in Stephen’s accomplishments and praised his intelligence and resilience. She acknowledged her initial desire to protect her children from the hardships of life but later recognized their individual journeys. Bening also shares children Benjamin, Isabel, and Ella with her husband Warren Beatty.

During her appearance on ‘The View,’ Bening encouraged viewers to connect with the transgender community by finding someone in their own lives who identifies as trans. She emphasized the importance of understanding and supporting trans individuals, whether they are family members, colleagues, or acquaintances. Bening urged people to approach with love and compassion instead of judgement.
