Star Wars Episode Iii Revenge Of The Sith 20th Anniversary Screening

GREENFIELD, Mass. — On May 4, fans of the “Star Wars” franchise will gather at the Greenfield Garden Cinemas to celebrate the 20th anniversary of “Star Wars: Episode IIIRevenge of the Sith.” The theater will host three screenings of the iconic film, along with coloring and cosplay contests, discounted popcorn, and a special “Darkside cocktail menu” for attendees.

This particular installment of George Lucas‘s prequel trilogy, released in 2005, stands out among its predecessors, receiving stronger reviews and being considered a course correction for the franchise. The narrative centers around Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, played by Ewan McGregor, and his troubled apprentice Anakin Skywalker, portrayed by Hayden Christensen. As the plot unfolds, Anakin finds himself torn between the Jedi Order and the manipulative influence of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, played by Ian McDiarmid.

“Twenty years ago, we thought this was going to be the last Star Wars movie ever made, and it was the biggest cinematic event,” said Issac Maas, co-owner of Greenfield Garden Cinema. The franchise has since expanded dramatically under Disney, with numerous films, series, and spin-offs released in the years following. This anniversary celebration offers a chance for die-hard fans and newcomers alike to revisit the universe that has captivated audiences for decades.

“Revenge of the Sith” explores complex themes of loyalty, ambition, and betrayal as Anakin succumbs to the dark side, prompted by his fear of losing his secret wife, Queen Amidala, portrayed by Natalie Portman. As Anakin transforms into Darth Vader, the film culminates in an intense showdown with Obi-Wan on a lava-covered planet, marking a critical turning point in the “Star Wars” saga.

The event is set for noon, 3 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. on May 4, offering something for everyone, whether they are experiencing the film for the first time or reliving the emotional moments that still resonate. Adult tickets are $10.50, with discounts available for seniors, college students, and veterans at $8.50. Matinee pricing is also available for all showings.

As audiences prepare to engage with this pivotal chapter, the theater looks forward to uniting fans in a celebration of a cultural phenomenon that continues to inspire and entertain.
