Applications Open For Chevening Scholarships To Study In The Uk

Exciting news for students dreaming of studying in the UK! Applications for the renowned Chevening Scholarships opened on 6 August and will remain open until 5 November 2024. If you’re interested, you can apply through the official Chevening website.

The Chevening Scholarships are designed for individuals from various backgrounds who have the ambition and skills to become future leaders. Candidates need to have a clear vision for creating positive change in their home countries and show how a master’s degree from a UK university can help them achieve their goals.

This scholarship provides full financial support for scholars to pursue any eligible master’s degree at over 150 universities in the UK. Alongside this, scholars will have access to numerous unique academic, professional, and cultural experiences that enrich their time in the UK.

For the academic year 2025/2026, approximately 1,500 scholarships are up for grabs, which illustrates the UK’s commitment to fostering the leaders of tomorrow. With the scholarship, you’ll not only gain a prestigious education but also join a global network of over 57,000 alumni.

Celebrating the successes of its alumni, the UK’s Chevening Alumni Alliance has awarded ten alumni for their notable contributions in their communities this year. One standout winner is Pamela Mejia from the Philippines. She made history as the first Filipino to receive this prestigious award for her innovative work in the fashion industry focusing on social and environmental sustainability.

Emma Hennessey, who heads The Scholarships Unit at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, highlighted the impact of Chevening alumni, noting that they apply the knowledge and skills acquired in the UK to effect change once they return home. She expressed eagerness to see applications from the next generation of leaders.

Richard Montgomery, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, emphasized the inclusivity of the program, stating there’s no ‘typical’ scholar. What matters most is the passion for driving change, regardless of background. He encouraged future leaders with a clear vision and determination to apply for the scholarship.

Current Chevening Scholar RJ Naguit, also from the Philippines, shared his experience, noting how the scholarship has been a significant catalyst for his personal and professional growth. He appreciated the valuable connections he made and the invaluable experiences he gained while studying in the UK.
