Arkansas Hosts Notre Dame for Historic Football Matchup This Saturday
Fayetteville, Arkansas – The Arkansas Razorbacks will welcome the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 27, for their first-ever meeting on the football field. The game is set to kickoff at 11 a.m. and will be broadcast on ABC.
This matchup comes as Arkansas looks to finish its non-conference schedule strong. The Razorbacks have achieved over 500 yards of total offense in their last five games, a first in the program’s history since the 2024 Liberty Bowl.
Quarterback Taylen Green is leading the charge for Arkansas, completing 81 of 126 passes for 1,191 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has also rushed for 360 yards and two touchdowns, ranking first in the nation in total offense with an average of 387.8 yards per game.
Defensively, Arkansas has showcased talent in players like defensive lineman Shakur Smalls, who is among the nation’s leaders in forced fumbles this season. The Razorbacks’ defense will look to contain a struggling Notre Dame offense, which has faced significant challenges early in the season.
On the Razorbacks’ side, standout players include defensive lineman Quincy Rhodes Jr., who has recorded multiple sacks and a career-high in tackles for loss. Tight end Jaden Platt is also a key player, boasting an impressive average of 17.88 yards per reception.
The Razorbacks have shown strong performance in the first halves of games, scoring 28 points consistently in each of their games this season—their best start since at least 1991. In addition, Arkansas kicker Scott Starzyk has maintained consistency, successfully completing 20 point-after attempts this season, extending their streak to 203 consecutive successful extra points.
As Arkansas aims to maintain its momentum, Notre Dame hopes to fix its defensive issues and secure its first win of the season after an unexpected 0-2 start. This Saturday’s game not only marks a significant event for Arkansas but also offers Notre Dame a chance to turn their season around.
