Shanghai, China – Arthur Rinderknech scored a significant victory on Friday, defeating World No. 13 Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-3, 6-4 to reach the semi-finals of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Shanghai.

The match lasted 87 minutes, during which Rinderknech demonstrated aggressive play, capitalizing on key moments to secure his first Masters 1000 semi-final appearance. He moved up 17 spots in the PIF ATP Live Rankings to No. 37 and is set to achieve a career-high ranking next week.

“It is huge. First of all, I followed my cousin,” Rinderknech said, referencing his cousin, Vacherot, who is also competing in the tournament. “The whole family is following from home, and I think we are in our own little world here.”

Rinderknech’s performance was highlighted by nine winners in the first set and successful maintenance of his service game, allowing him to dominate the court. Notably, Auger-Aliassime had lost his serve only once throughout the tournament before this match.

In addition to his impressive victory, Rinderknech acknowledged the emotional support from his family, especially during his cousin’s matches. “It has been incredible since the start of the tournament,” he mentioned.

Rinderknech will face Daniil Medvedev, the former World No. 1, in the semi-finals. Medvedev also secured his spot by defeating Alex De Minaur 6-4, 6-4. This will mark another challenge for Rinderknech as he seeks to continue his outstanding run in Shanghai.

The semi-final matchup between Rinderknech and Medvedev promises to be an exciting clash as both players are in excellent form.
