Lamora Williams Sentencing

Lamora Williams, a mother from Atlanta, has been convicted and sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murders of her two toddler sons, Ja’Karter Penn, 1, and Ke’Yaunte Penn, 2. The incident, which occurred in 2017, involved Williams placing her children in a hot oven, resulting in their deaths.

According to reports, Williams called emergency services to report finding her sons dead in the home, claiming she had just returned from work and found them in that state. However, the investigation revealed that Williams had “knowingly and intentionally” placed her children in the oven and turned it on between midnight on October 12, 2017, and 11 pm the next day.

The children’s father, Jameel Penn, also reported the incident to 911 after receiving a video call from Williams showing the deceased children. When police arrived, they found the toddlers with burn marks, and a medical examiner later confirmed that their heads were likely placed inside a tipped-over oven, causing “thermal changes” due to prolonged exposure to heat.

Williams was convicted of 14 counts related to the murders and will serve an additional 35 years in prison on top of her life sentence. Despite maintaining her innocence and pleading not guilty, the evidence led to her conviction. Williams’ mother, Brenda, had mentioned that her daughter struggled with mental health issues and was placed on suicide watch while in jail.
