CLARKSVILLE, TNAustin Peay State University announced the passing of senior football player William Hardrick on Tuesday night. He was 22 years old.

APSU football coach Jeff Faris expressed the team’s deep sorrow, stating, “William Hardrick was an exceptional young man, and our team is heartbroken by his loss. He made everyone around him better and has made a real impact both on and off the field. We lift up the Hardrick family in prayer as we grieve this tragic loss with them.”

Gerald Harrison, the university’s Vice President and Director of Athletics, also shared condolences. “We are truly saddened by the passing of William Hardrick, a new member of our football program and the Austin Peay family. All of our thoughts and prayers are with the Hardrick Family today. We will do everything we can to support his friends, family, and teammates at this time,” he said.

Hardrick was originally from Adamsville, Alabama. He previously attended Mississippi State University from 2021 to 2022 and Miami University in Ohio for the 2023-2024 season before transferring to Austin Peay this off-season.

The loss has resonated throughout the university community, with many reflecting on Hardrick’s contributions both as an athlete and as a friend.
