Australia Clinches Fourth T20I Against West Indies by Three Wickets

ST. KITTS, West Indies — Australia secured a thrilling three-wicket victory over West Indies in the fourth T20 International on Saturday, taking a commanding 4-0 lead in the five-match series. Cameron Green‘s unbeaten 55 and Josh Inglis‘s rapid 51 were pivotal in chasing down a target of 206 runs with just four balls to spare.
After winning the toss, Australia opted to field first. The West Indies posted 205 runs for nine wickets, losing momentum in the latter half of their innings. Key contributions came from Sherfane Rutherford (31), Romario Shepherd (28), and Rovman Powell (28), but Australia’s fielding and sharp catching limited their scoring opportunities. Adam Zampa took three wickets for 54 runs, while Xavier Bartlett and Sean Abbott each took one wicket.
Australia’s chase began poorly when captain Mitchell Marsh was dismissed for a duck on the second ball, bowled lbw by debutant Jediah Blades. However, Inglis steadied the innings, scoring 51 runs off 30 balls, while Glenn Maxwell contributed 47 runs from just 18 deliveries, including six sixes.
Despite a mid-innings wobble, where they lost three wickets in quick succession, Green and Aaron Hardie (23) put together a crucial partnership of 51 runs for the sixth wicket, setting the stage for a nail-biting finish. With two runs needed in the final over, Sean Abbott hit the winning run, sealing the victory for Australia.
Earlier, the West Indies struggled to maintain their earlier momentum after rain interrupted play, leading to a 55-minute delay. They finished their innings at 205/9, a total they hoped would be enough to fend off the Australians. Now, they face the prospect of a possible 5-0 series defeat.
The final T20 match will take place on Monday at Warner Park, where Australia aims for a series sweep after previously winning all three Test matches against the West Indies.
