Author Sudha Murty Oath Taking Ceremony In Rajya Sabha With Narayana Murthy

Renowned author Sudha Murty, known for her philanthropic work and acclaimed literary contributions to children’s books, was officially sworn in as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha today.

The oath-taking ceremony took place at the esteemed Parliament House, with the presence of Sudha Murty’s husband and Infosys co-founder, Narayana Murthy, alongside the esteemed Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Sudha Murty, aged 73, stood before the distinguished gathering as she pledged to serve her role as a representative.

Her nomination to the Rajya Sabha last week, on International Women’s Day, was met with praise and acknowledgment of her outstanding achievements across various domains.

Sudha Murty’s monumental contribution of seed capital of Rs 10,000 from her emergency funds, which launched Infosys, now stands as a multibillion-dollar company with a market cap exceeding USD 80 billion. She was notably the first female engineer at TELCO, carving the path for many women in the field.

The author has received numerous accolades throughout her career, including awards like the Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar, Padma Shri in 2006, and the prestigious Padma Bhushan in 2023.

Sudha Murty’s family connections are also noteworthy, as her daughter Akshata is married to the British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak.
