AWE Program Alumni Making Waves: Balancing Work and Family for Empowerment
As the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) exchange program commemorates its fifth anniversary in 2024, the focus shifts to the remarkable impact of its alumni balancing work and personal life in empowering ways. With International Women’s Day on March 8, it’s a time to reflect on the program’s achievements and spotlight the inspiring women leaders who are influencing their communities and beyond.
A pivotal AWE graduate, Ivana Azcue from Uruguay, has channeled her business endeavors towards supporting local mothers with vital education and resources through her organization, Club de Mamis. Offering workshops and activities covering child development, healthcare, and mental health, Azcue’s mission is centered around empowering women by nurturing a supportive community.
First Lady Jill Biden previously highlighted the struggles faced by women balancing career and family responsibilities, accentuating the need for programs like AWE to create pathways back into the workforce. AWE has impacted over 25,000 women globally, providing essential financial and educational support to empower women economically.
Another standout AWE alumna, Dildora Hudaynazarova from Uzbekistan, has successfully managed her travel business, D-Tour LLC, while prioritizing family time. Weathering the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Hudaynazarova found renewed motivation and business strategies through her AWE participation, emphasizing the importance of digitalization and work-life balance.
International Women’s Day serves as a reminder of the ongoing journey towards gender equality and the vital role women play in both the workforce and family dynamics. With success stories like Azcue and Hudaynazarova, the AWE program continues to empower women entrepreneurs worldwide.
