Bakersfield Man Arrested for Shooting in Ridgecrest, Leaves Victim Hospitalized
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 45-year-old man from Bakersfield was arrested for allegedly shooting another man, leaving the victim hospitalized in Ridgecrest. The incident occurred on October 14, 2025, around 3 p.m. when officers responded to reports of shots fired on the 100 block of W. Reeves Avenue.
Upon arrival, police discovered evidence confirming the shooting. According to the Ridgecrest Police Department, the victim had been transported to the hospital by friends and was found to have sustained significant, but non-life-threatening, injuries.
Following the shooting, RPD officers and detectives quickly initiated an investigation that led them to identify the suspect as Felipe Hernandez. Authorities learned that Hernandez had fled the scene and was believed to be in Trona.
With assistance from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Hernandez was located in Trona and arrested without incident. He has since been booked into the Kern County Lerdo Jail on charges related to the shooting.
Ridgecrest Police Chief Mario Ysit expressed gratitude for the collaboration with allied agencies, stating, “We are always grateful for our allied agencies that assist us in apprehending criminals and ensuring they are brought to justice.” He also praised the hard work of his department’s personnel.
