Young Pastor Studying The Bible

Bank Richards, a Nigerian medical student, recently opened up about how his life and faith transformed after a significant meeting with Pastor Abel Damina in 2016. In a series of tweets shared on X, Bank reminisced about his time as a campus pastor at a well-known church in Nigeria.

While he enjoyed some perks, like driving the church bus and being cooked for by fellow congregants, Bank found himself grappling with unanswered questions about Christianity. He shared, ‘I started reading for myself… How do I know that tithing is good? Why should a woman wear trousers or not? I just couldn’t explain.’

Despite completing various Bible studies at his previous church, Bank felt unsatisfied. It was during a holiday when he learned about Pastor Abel’s three-week Bible school in Onitsha that he decided to attend. ‘Omo, I was to resume school, but I went. My eyes were wide open. All my questions were answered. I now could attempt to explain,’ he said.

After his experience at the Bible school, Bank transformed his approach as a campus pastor. He stopped driving the church bus and began to focus more on personal growth and outreach. ‘My message changed, my attitude changed… evangelism became sweet,’ he shared, noting that he found joy in his faith.

Bank also described how he lost interest in vengeful prayers that were commonplace in his old church environment. His shift in beliefs drew questions from church leaders, but he continued his spiritual journey, eventually parting ways with his former church to follow Pastor Abel.
