Barnsley FC Players Assist Local Foodbank
A group of Barnsley FC players extended their support to a local foodbank partnership recently. Young athletes, Theo Chapman and Aaron Atkinson, were accompanied by Barnsley FC Community Trust students, alongside the club mascot, Toby Tyke, to assist in sorting stocks and distributing leaflets, while encouraging community members to donate.
This initiative is part of the Barnsley Foodbank Partnership, which forms part of The Trussell Trust’s network comprising 1,200 foodbanks. The organization strives to tackle food poverty and hunger both within local communities and across the UK. These efforts provide much-needed aid to thousands of families in the region each year.
Georgina Arnold, representing the foodbank partnership, expressed her gratitude, saying, “We are so grateful for the support of Barnsley FC and Barnsley FC Community Trust. Their assistance through donation drives, food collections, and volunteering is amazing, and we are eager to work with them throughout the season.”
Amy Milne of the Barnsley FC Community Trust shared similar sentiments, stating, “We value our partnership with the Barnsley Foodbank Partnership and we try to support them whenever and wherever we can. The work they do for food poverty in the Barnsley community is unmatched. We are grateful to Theo and Aaron for taking the time to help, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration this year.”
