BBC and Amazon Music Partner to Bring BBC Podcasts to Global Audience
The BBC and Amazon Music have struck a partnership that will now offer BBC podcasts to audiences worldwide, marking a significant expansion for the BBC’s audio unit.
Beginning this week, subscribers to Amazon’s Prime and Music Unlimited services will have access to a curated selection of over 50 popular BBC podcasts, free from advertisements.
Notable podcasts in the lineup include Americast, BBC Global News Podcast, and Dua Lipa: At Your Service, among others.
The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed, but this collaboration represents a significant step in the BBC Studios’ growth strategy.
In a recent move, BBC Studios launched its Apple subscription podcast service, BBC Podcasts Premium, in 166 new countries across several continents.
In addition to ad-free access to selected BBC podcasts, the agreement will also allow Amazon Music users to listen to the complete BBC catalog on the ad-supported free tier of the service.
