Bell Canada Users Report Widespread Outage Across Ontario and Quebec

TORONTO, Ontario — Bell Canada users reported a widespread service outage early Wednesday morning affecting thousands in Ontario and Quebec. The company is actively working to restore service as reports of disruptions surged around 9:30 a.m. ET.
According to DownDetector, an outage tracking website, over 133,000 concerns were logged at the peak of the incident, primarily involving landline and mobile internet connections. By 10 a.m. ET, the number of complaints decreased to approximately 41,000.
In response to the reports, Bell Canada acknowledged the issue, stating, “Some customers in Ontario and Quebec may be experiencing an internet service interruption. We are working to restore service as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience.” A representative added that updates will be provided as they become available.
Many users across Atlantic Canada also reported outages, but Bell Aliant, a subsidiary of Bell Canada, appeared unaffected. Around 10:30 a.m. ET, the outage reports significantly declined to 22,500.
This incident follows regulatory changes in Canada that require telecommunications companies to report significant outages within two hours. This move was prompted by a previous outage in 2022 that left 12 million people without internet service.
Bell continues to monitor the situation and is dedicated to restoring service to all affected customers.
