Today is Bell Let’s Talk Day! Canadians are being encouraged to take meaningful action to create real change in mental health while recognizing the efforts of various mental health organizations across the country.

Bell Let’s Talk, the initiative behind this important day, supports numerous mental health organizations and services throughout Canada. This year’s campaign focuses on organizations such as the 9-8-8: Suicide Crisis Helpline, Aire Ouverte, Canadian Red Cross, CAPSA, Choices for Youth, CMHA PEI Division, Foundry, Hong Fook Mental Health Association, Huddle, Integrated Youth Services (IYS), Jacob Puddister Memorial Foundation, Kickstand, Kids Help Phone, LakeCity Works, Les Impatients, Liard Aboriginal Women’s Society, National Association of Friendship Centres (NAFC), Nurrait | Jeunes Karibus, Pitquhirnikkut Ilihautiniq/Kitikmeot Heritage Society, Portage, Resource Assistance for Youth (RaY), Sophia Recovery Centre, TAIBU Community Health Centre, The Do More Agriculture Foundation, The Refugee Centre, and Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario. These organizations work tirelessly to improve access to mental health care and provide essential services to those in need.

Chair of Bell Let’s Talk, Mary Deacon, emphasizes the importance of taking action and creating change in our communities. She encourages everyone to get involved and make a difference in the lives of those struggling with mental health.

Bell Let’s Talk Day also marks the opening of the 2024 Bell Let’s Talk Community Fund. Registered charitable organizations can apply for grants up to $25,000 to support programs that improve access to mental health care and services. Over $20 million has already been awarded to more than 1,100 local mental health programs across Canada.

Throughout the day, various Bell Let’s Talk Day events are taking place. These include programming on CTV, featuring discussions on the new suicide crisis helpline 9-8-8, interviews with mental health professionals, and segments on appropriate language usage and mental resiliency. TSN will also share messages from sports teams and figures on mental health awareness, while MuchMusic focuses on mental health stories in the music industry. Additionally, RDS will address mental health through interviews with athletes, and Noovo will highlight personal testimonies from celebrities on mental health.

Crave, SUPER ÉCRAN, and Cinépop feature selected titles that promote mental health discussions and awareness. iHeartRadio stations Rouge FM and ÉNERGIE will offer special playlists and interviews throughout the day centered around mental health.

Bell Let’s Talk Day is an opportunity for Canadians to join together, support mental health organizations, and create a positive impact in their communities.
