Beloved Mother and Friend Kristen Philbrick Dies Unexpectedly at 36

BIDDEFORD, Maine — Kristen Philbrick (Moreau), a vibrant 36-year-old mother and devoted friend, passed away unexpectedly on April 9, 2025, at her home in Biddeford. Kristen was known for her nurturing spirit and infectious enthusiasm that brightened the lives of everyone around her.
Born on July 20, 1988, in Bath, she was the daughter of Katherine Dore (Galligan) and George Moreau. Kristen was well-regarded in her community, having participated in numerous activities throughout her school years at Bonny Eagle and Massabesic High Schools, including cheer, track, and field hockey.
After graduating from high school, Kristen pursued her passion for cosmetology and microblading, demonstrating an intense commitment to health and self-care. “She had a deep love for others and showed this through her caring actions,” said her mother, Katherine. Her most cherished role was that of a mother, wholeheartedly devoted to her daughters Alexa Moreau and Ava Philbrick, creating countless magical memories filled with adventure and laughter.
Kristen was known for her playful personality, which drew family and friends to her. She often embraced silliness and believed in the power of joy, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her love for music, particularly R&B, often found her singing and dancing joyfully, with karaoke sessions becoming a staple of her social life.
Creatively inclined, Kristen spent hours browsing Pinterest for inspiration across various crafts, including interior design, fashion, and floral arrangements. She was also passionate about nature, frequently hiking and enjoying sunny days at the beach, along with her beloved family and friends.
Kristen cherished her time with animals, particularly her cat Katherine Sara and her grand-cat Thomas. Her adventurous spirit extended to enjoying seafood and thrilling amusement rides, reflecting her vibrant personality.
She is survived by her two daughters, Alexa Moreau and her partner Anthony Butler, and Ava Philbrick; her mother Katherine Dore and her husband Fred; her father George Moreau; her grandmother Marion Galligan; her granddaughter Ila Butler; two brothers Aidan Poole and partner Miranda, and Avery Poole and partner Maddy; her sister Courtney Mann; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, including Kassi Ronan and Celena Barone.
Kristen was predeceased by her grandfather Eugene Galligan and uncle Daniel Galligan. Her legacy of love and laughter endures in the stories and memories cherished by her family and friends. A funeral service will be held on April 19, 2025, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel in Saco, starting with visiting hours at noon and the service at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Caring Unlimited, an organization supporting domestic violence victims, in memory of Kristen’s spirit and dedication to caring for others.
