Beloved transgender actress, author, and activist Cecilia Gentili has passed away. Gentili, originally from Argentina, dedicated her life to fighting for the rights of undocumented immigrants, sex workers, and the LGBTQ+ community. The news of her passing was shared via a post on her Instagram page on February 6.

Gentili, known for her towering presence in New York City and beyond, was an asylum seeker. She was an advocate for marginalized communities and a beloved figure among her friends and family. Cecilia Gentili was a multifaceted talent who had recently released her debut book and performed an autobiographical off-Broadway show. Gentili served as the Director of Policy at GMHC, an AIDS service organization, and founded Transgender Equity Consulting, which focused on centering the experiences of trans women of color, immigrants, sex workers, and incarcerated individuals.
