Bethesda’s Upcoming Indiana Jones Game Features Harrison Ford’s Likeness

Bethesda Softworks, in collaboration with MachineGames, is set to release a new video game, “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.” The game draws on the legacy of the iconic character Indiana Jones and will be set between the timeline of “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.”

This highly anticipated title places Indiana Jones in a global adventure where he seeks to uncover a stolen artifact from the Vatican, taking players through a variety of locations including Thailand, Egypt, the Himalayas, and Shanghai. Uniquely, this adaptation takes on a first-person perspective, diverging from prior Indiana Jones video games, aligning stylistically more with MachineGames’ previous projects such as “Wolfenstein: The New Order.”

Notably, “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” includes the likeness of Harrison Ford, the legendary actor who originally brought the character to life on screen. While Ford’s visual likeness appears in the game, the character’s voice is provided by a renowned voice actor known for roles in popular games like “Far Cry 4” and “The Last of Us.”

Harrison Ford is a cultural icon not just for his role as Indiana Jones but also for his portrayal of Han Solo in the “Star Wars” franchise, where he played a pivotal role alongside characters such as Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia. Despite Solo’s popularity, there has yet to be a notable standalone video game focusing entirely on the character.

Fans of the character have seen Han Solo in various video games over the decades, including “LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga” and “Star Wars: Battlefront 2.” There’s an observed demand for a dedicated Han Solo game, particularly one that offers a fresh perspective, potentially adopting a first-person viewpoint like “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.”

As for “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle,” it is being developed by MachineGames and will feature executive production by Hall of Fame game designer Todd Howard. The game is set for a December 2024 release.
