LOS ANGELES, CA — Bette Midler has provided an update on the much-anticipated third installment of the Hocus Pocus franchise. During her recent appearance on “Watch What Happens Live” with Andy Cohen, she revealed that she has seen a script for Hocus Pocus 3, and described it as “brilliant.”

Midler, who reprises her role as Winifred Sanderson, expressed her excitement about the project. “They sent a script, and a lot of it was brilliant,” she said. “So I got very excited, and now we’re trying to figure out what it is and where it’s going to be and how much it’s going to cost and all those logistical things.” This news comes more than two years after Sean Bailey, president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production, confirmed that a third film was in the works.

The original Hocus Pocus, which debuted in 1993, became a cult classic despite its initial box office struggles. The sequel, Hocus Pocus 2, released in 2022, became a major success for Disney+, setting a record for the platform with 2.7 billion minutes viewed during its opening weekend.

Midler, along with co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy, reunited for the sequel, which also drew significant attention and acclaim. Midler noted the long wait for a sequel, saying, “It took 30 years to happen. We used to lobby Disney all the time: ‘C’mon, Hocus Pocus, look at these numbers!’”

As for a release date for Hocus Pocus 3, no specific timeline has been confirmed yet. The excitement around the project continues to build as fans eagerly await the next chapter in the Sanderson sisters’ story.
