With Marvel Studios‘ blockbuster ‘Deadpool & Wolverine‘ hitting theaters this weekend, fans are buzzing about the identity of the female version of the beloved comic-book character.

Speculation has been rife, with names like Taylor Swift and Blake Lively making the rounds. However, toward the end of the film, audiences catch a glimpse of a woman in the iconic anti-hero suit, known in the Marvel Comics as Lady Deadpool.

Ryan Reynolds, who reprises his role as Deadpool, made an appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s ‘The Tonight Show’ and hinted that the film features more surprises than cameos. When Fallon mentioned Taylor Swift multiple times, Reynolds quipped, ‘I wish… she’d make a good Deadpool.’

In a twist that fans will love, it turns out that Blake Lively, Reynolds’ wife, is indeed the woman behind Lady Deadpool’s mask. But she’s not alone; the film introduces multiple variants of Deadpool, including characters like Dogpool and Cowboy Deadpool.

Lively shared a sweet moment on social media, posting a picture of herself kissing Reynolds in full Deadpool costume. The caption reads, ‘Brb I’m buying milky pens to write your name on my hand @vancityreynolds.’ She celebrated her role, saying, ‘It’s hard not to encourage my ladies to spot all the ways we’ve influenced… Let’s (expletive) gooooo!’

To truly enjoy the sequel, fans should brush up on previous Marvel installments available on Disney+. So far, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ has garnered positive feedback, with USA TODAY critic Brian Truitt calling it a ‘delightfully meta, proudly gonzo buddy-comedy teamup.’

And don’t forget to stay seated for the post-credits scene, which is sure to be a treat for moviegoers.
