Blizzard Conditions Power Outage Shenandoah

SHENANDOAH, Iowa — A powerful blizzard accompanied by strong winds knocked out power to over 3,000 customers in the Shenandoah area on Tuesday night. As of 9:45 p.m., MidAmerican Energy reported 12 outages affecting 3,028 customers due to ongoing severe weather conditions.

The storms, which swept through much of KMAland, have caused significant disruptions, particularly in Shenandoah, where stoplights along Highway 59 were also impacted. Residents are urged to treat these intersections as four-way stops until power is restored.

“The safety of our community is our top priority,” said a representative from the Shenandoah Fire Department through a Facebook post. “We advise everyone to remain cautious on the roads and only call 911 in case of emergencies.”

Currently, Shenandoah’s outages account for the majority of the 4,300 customers affected across the Council Bluffs metro area. As the storm continues, there is no estimated timeline for when power will be restored to those affected.

MidAmerican Energy urges residents to report any power outages by visiting their website or by calling 800-799-4443. For ongoing updates, customers can check the MidAmerican Energy power outage map.

As conditions develop, more information will be made available to keep the public informed about safety and outages.
