Puebla Abandoned Truck Bodies Police Investigation

PUEBLA, Pue. — Just days before the Puebla Fair is set to commence, authorities are investigating a chilling discovery: four bodies were found wrapped in blankets inside an abandoned pickup truck near the Centro Expositor, the venue for the upcoming event.

Reports indicate that the bodies were covered and placed in the truck’s cargo bed, along with several brooms, although authorities have not confirmed these details. A threatening message allegedly from the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) was left with the bodies, directed at the fair’s organizers, which raises serious concerns ahead of the event starting on April 24.

Local sources speculate that the brooms symbolize a group identified as ‘La Barredora,’ which has claimed responsibility for recent executions in the region. In addition to the disturbing scene at the fairgrounds, three other bodies were found throughout Puebla, further escalating fears about safety in the area.

Two decapitated males were discovered alongside the Puebla-Córdoba highway near Acajete. Social media reports have confirmed that these individuals were from Tepeaca, where local families have recently reported the disappearance of five other residents. In another incident, a body was found in the Sanctorum community of Cuautlancingo, fully wrapped in plastic, marking an unsettling pattern of violence in the region.

Authorities are currently piecing together information as they confront a spiraling wave of violence just as the fair, a major event in Puebla, approaches. The timing of these incidents has raised alarm and speculation among locals regarding the ongoing threats posed by organized crime.

In a separate violent episode occurring just days earlier, five individuals were killed in various incidents across Veracruz, highlighting the pervasive insecurity affecting the region. Out of the victims, notable figures included Isaías Martínez Martínez, a local leader known as ‘Pirri,’ who was shot during a conflict that also claimed the life of a pregnant woman caught in crossfire.

As the investigation progresses in Puebla, local and state authorities are urged to enhance security measures to ensure the safety of attendees during the Puebla Fair and the broader region.
