Water Main Break St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — A precautionary boil water advisory was issued early February 11 for parts of north St. Louis County following a significant water main break, according to Missouri American Water. The advisory, affecting Hazelwood, Florissant, Berkeley, Ferguson, Dellwood, and Kinloch, was announced around 12:30 a.m. and is expected to last approximately 48 hours.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to boil any water used for drinking or cooking for at least three minutes before consumption. However, water is deemed safe for bathing, washing, and other non-consumable uses.

The Hazelwood Police Department responded promptly to reports of the break at the intersection of Hazelcrest Drive and Dunn Road. Officers observed several feet of water gushing onto Dunn Road from the damaged main, contributing to localized flooding.

Due to rising water levels, multiple residents were evacuated from their homes as a safety precaution. The police have indicated that Ameren representatives also responded to address electrical hazards posed by submerged utility sources, making some residences unsafe for entry.

The roadway remains partially closed at the intersection of Dunn and Hazelcrest as emergency crews work to manage the situation and restore services. Missouri American Water is actively monitoring the situation and will issue further guidance as necessary.
