FORT WORTH, Texas — Authorities are investigating a possible bomb threat at R. L. Paschal High School, prompting the school to activate its SECURE protocol, according to information from the Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD).
The potential threat was reported Thursday afternoon, leading Principal Rodney White to inform families that all students and staff are currently safe inside the school. While the investigation continues, exterior doors are locked, and streets around the campus are temporarily closed.
“During a SECURE protocol, we ensure that our school is protected,” White stated in a letter sent to parents. “Dismissal is on hold until we receive clearance from law enforcement.”
The Fort Worth Police Department has established a significant presence at the scene, with officers responsible for managing the situation and coordinating the release of students by zones. Buses that were on campus have already departed, while additional buses are staged nearby.
Families approaching the campus are advised to stay in their vehicles and avoid trying to enter the school grounds. “We have officers on scene, gathering details. We are taking all precautions but cannot confirm any details at this moment,” said a spokesperson from the Fort Worth Police.
Social media platforms lit up with concerns from parents and residents as police vehicles and a helicopter were spotted near the school. Many expressed anxiety about the situation, with one concerned parent stating, “What’s happening at Paschal High School? The building is surrounded by police.”
This incident follows reports of other similar threats across various schools nationwide, with safety protocols being a top priority for educational institutions. As this is a developing story, updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
