Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers Share Holiday Gift Tips

NEW YORK, NY — Comedians Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers are spreading holiday cheer through their new campaign at Marshalls, which features gift guides inspired by their podcast, Las Culturistas. The duo is known for their humorous take on pop culture, and they recently won iHeartRadio‘s Podcast Of The Year Award in 2023.

This season, their campaign helps shoppers find the perfect gifts for their friends and family. Yang explained, “Saying that you love Marshalls is like ordering Diet Coke for the table. You empower other people to say something they thought was buried: ‘Oh, wait, I’ve always loved Marshalls too.’”

In a recent interview at a Marshalls store in Manhattan, the pair shared their favorite gift ideas. They highlighted a guide for “the cool girl who is always late,” suggesting items like trendy purses and shoes. “She’s taking this to Balthazar, Carbone, the Whitney,” Yang said, describing the character’s bustling social life.

When asked about the inspiration behind the gift guide, Rogers said, “I would say our friend Greta [Gerwig] — who we love.” They also discussed universal crowd-pleasers, mentioning silk pajamas and skincare items as excellent gift choices. Yang added, “And you really can’t go wrong with a candle.”

Reflecting on their own holiday memories, Rogers reminisced about receiving a PlayStation 2 as a child, saying it shaped his passion for video games. Yang recalled a Batgirl action figure that resonated with him after seeing Batman Forever.

As for unusual holiday plans, Yang jokingly mentioned a family suggestion to spend Christmas in Scottsdale, Arizona. Rogers shared that he will be spending the holidays in Tampa, Florida, where his parents snowbird.

Yang concluded with a nod to the appeal of candles as gifts, stating that the cultural perception of candles has changed. “No one’s gonna turn down a candle,” he said. Rogers chimed in about his unique gift idea of customized drink coasters featuring pop stars.
