Boxing Match Relocation Considered Due to Hurricane Milton

Tim Tszyu Vs Bakhram Murtazaliev

The upcoming boxing match between Tim Tszyu and Bakhram Murtazaliev, scheduled to take place in Orlando, Florida, is facing possible relocation due to the impact of Hurricane Milton. George Rose, CEO of No Limit, confirmed that Las Vegas is a likely alternative venue should the match need to be moved. The hurricane, which made landfall on Florida’s coastline, is considered one of the most severe in recent U.S. history, with recorded wind speeds of 390 km/h.

Rose assured reporters that both Tim Tszyu and fellow Australian boxer Mateo Tapia, who is also scheduled to fight on the undercard, are currently safe. Preparations are underway for potential contingencies demanded by the extreme weather. “It’s been a bit of a tumultuous week as we found out about the weather trends,” Rose stated, emphasizing the logistical challenges involved.

Both fighters are gearing up for pivotal bouts in their careers, marking important steps in their boxing journeys. With the hurricane threatening potential disruptions, Rose noted the preparedness of the organizers to make rapid adjustments if necessary, saying, “We’re staying in touch with our U.S. counterparts… and are prepared to make a mad dash to a safer location.”

Tim Tszyu, having suffered a recent defeat to Sebastian Fundora, is keen to regain his standing with a win against the undefeated Bakhram Murtazaliev. The Russian boxer, making his first title defense after a victory over Jack Culcay earlier this year, represents a significant challenge for Tszyu. “I bring the heat every time I get in the ring,” Tszyu declared at an open training session, expressing confidence in his readiness for the fight.

Should the venue change from Orlando to Las Vegas, it could benefit Tszyu, who has been training in Las Vegas. However, Rose mentioned no specific timeline for when a decision about the change will be made, citing that updates could occur at any time.

Past experiences with rescheduling due to weather, such as the postponement of Nikita Tszyu’s debut in 2022 due to flooding, have equipped No Limit with the necessary experience to handle such situations. Rose remains optimistic about maintaining the fight schedule and ensuring the safety of all involved, a critical consideration given the massive impact of Hurricane Milton.
