Brandi Carlile’s New Album Celebrates Connection Over Solitude
New York, NY – Brandi Carlile has released her new album, “Returning to Myself,” highlighting her belief that solitude is often overrated. After years of collaborating with others, Carlile spent time at Aaron Dessner‘s Long Pond Studio in upstate New York to create this work.
In an interview, Carlile explained how her recent time alone led her to recognize her love for being around people. “You need to learn to be alone with your thoughts… or do you?” she pondered. The new album showcases a collaborative effort, featuring contributions from notable artists like Dessner and Andrew Watt.
During the interview, Carlile also reflected on her friendship with fellow musician Joni Mitchell and shared insights into maintaining balance amid life’s challenges. “This album represents a team effort, much like my friendships,” Carlile said, emphasizing the importance of connection.
The episode of “World Cafe,” where she discussed her album, was produced and edited by Kimberly Junod, among others. Carlile’s journey echoes a message about the significance of community in creative work.
Her commitment to collaborative music-making is evident as she looks forward to sharing this new chapter with fans.
