HOLYOKE, Mass. – Bridget Moynahan, a Longmeadow native and star of the television series “Blue Bloods,” will lead this year’s St. Patrick's Parade as the recipient of the prestigious John F. Kennedy Award. Parade officials announced the honor on Sunday, recognizing Moynahan for her career achievements and commitment to family, faith, and community.

The John F. Kennedy Award is given annually to an American of Irish descent who exemplifies these values. Moynahan, known for her role as Assistant District Attorney Erin Reagan on “Blue Bloods,” has also appeared in films such as “Coyote Ugly” and “I, Robot.” Her selection highlights her contributions to the entertainment industry and her Irish heritage.

“We are thrilled to honor Bridget Moynahan with this year’s John F. Kennedy Award,” said a spokesperson for the parade committee. “Her dedication to her craft and her roots make her an ideal recipient.”

The St. Patrick’s Parade, a beloved tradition in Holyoke, attracts thousands of spectators each year. Moynahan will march at the front of the parade, which is scheduled to take place on March 17. The event celebrates Irish culture and heritage, featuring marching bands, floats, and community groups.

Moynahan expressed her gratitude for the recognition, stating, “It’s an incredible honor to receive the John F. Kennedy Award and to be part of such a meaningful celebration of Irish culture.”

The parade committee also emphasized the importance of the award in recognizing individuals who embody the spirit of the Irish-American community. Past recipients include notable figures from various fields, all of whom have made significant contributions to their professions and communities.

As preparations for the parade continue, organizers are encouraging attendees to celebrate safely and responsibly. The event is expected to draw visitors from across the region, further cementing its status as one of the largest St. Patrick’s Day parades in the country.
