Brisbane Airport is preparing for its annual charity auction, in which close to 500 unclaimed items left by passengers are set to be sold. According to airport officials, these items were accumulated over the past year from the 22.6 million travelers who passed through the terminal.

The auction, which includes an eclectic range of items, is expected to attract a diverse group of bidders. Available for purchase are common travel essentials such as sunglasses, books, bags, computers, tablets, and phones.

For sports enthusiasts, the auction also features equipment like bikes, scooters, and climbing gear. One notable item is a Shimano deep sea fishing reel, likely to garner interest from fishing aficionados.

Photography lovers may find interest in the assortment of cameras, including a Canon Eos 5D MKIV complete with a case and zoom lens, while fans of unique memorabilia might be intrigued by a life-size cardboard cut-out of Cam Rayner, a Brisbane Lions footballer.

The auction includes a selection of children’s toys, puzzles, and games, potentially offering an opportunity for early holiday shopping. Music enthusiasts can explore items ranging from musical instruments such as drum kits and an acoustic guitar, to audio equipment like speakers and a portable DJ controller. However, the auctioneers have advised that there is no guarantee regarding the condition or functionality of these items.

Among the more unconventional items is a leather fold-up massage table, which is sure to pique curiosity.

Peter Doherty, the media and corporate affairs manager for Brisbane Airport, emphasized the popularity of the charity auction. “This auction is hugely popular because it offers people a chance to snag a bargain while knowing their money is supporting young Queenslanders in need,” Doherty stated.

The auction is conducted online and will run until October 27. There are no reserve prices on any of the items, providing bidders the potential for considerable bargains.
