British Man Arrested for Alleged Fake Wedding with 9-Year-Old Girl

Marne-la-Vallée, France — A 22-year-old British man was arrested Saturday for allegedly staging a fake wedding with a 9-year-old Ukrainian girl at Disneyland Paris. The unusual ceremony was scheduled to take place in front of the park’s Sleeping Beauty Castle, and the man claimed he intended to film the event for social media.
Park employees became suspicious when they noticed that the bride appeared to be very young. They intervened and alerted authorities, prompting police to arrive on the scene. According to reports, the participants and guests at the event were hired actors, some of whom had been transported to the park for the occasion.
Alexandre Verney, assistant prosecutor for the Seine-et-Marne département, confirmed that four individuals were arrested in connection to the incident, including the man who posed as the groom, the child’s 41-year-old mother, and two Latvian nationals aged 24 and 55. The girl was examined by medical professionals and found to be unharmed.
The prosecutor’s office has since released the child’s mother and the 55-year-old Latvian, while the British man and the younger Latvian remain in custody. They are being investigated for possible financial fraud tied to the high cost of the event, which reportedly totaled €130,000.
Witnesses expressed shock over the incident, stating that they believed they were attending a genuine wedding. One attendee remarked, “We were sickened by that.” The Disneyland Paris staff received praise for their swift actions, as the park promptly canceled the ceremony once they learned of the bride’s age.
This peculiar event has raised numerous questions about the organizing individuals’ motives, with the assistant prosecutor describing the situation as a “staged wedding” intended for video production. The investigation is ongoing as authorities dig deeper into the circumstances.
