Buffalo Sabres Aim for First Road Win Against Bruins
BOSTON – The Buffalo Sabres will seek their first road victory of the season when they face the Boston Bruins on Thursday night at TD Garden. The Sabres have points in six of their last seven games but remain winless on the road, with a record of 0-2-1.
Despite recent struggles away from home, Buffalo’s performance metrics indicate they have played better than their record suggests. The Sabres lost their three road games by a combined four goals, with Boston and Montreal sealing wins with empty-netters, while Toronto edged them out in overtime last Saturday.
Coach Lindy Ruff emphasized the need to convert puck possession into goals. “If we’re going to win road games, we’ve got to get our offense going,” he stated following the team’s morning skate. “The focus has been on generating more and playing more in the offensive zone on the road.”
Buffalo will benefit from the return of forward Jordan Greenway, who is making his season debut after recovering from injuries sustained last year. His presence is expected to bolster the Sabres’ lineup, enhancing both toughness and skill, particularly on their penalty kill.
The Sabres aim to address their offensive inefficiencies, having scored just one power-play goal on nine attempts in three road games. On the other hand, Buffalo’s top line, featuring players like Josh Doan, Ryan McLeod, and Alex Tuch, has been effective at even strength, controlling 58 percent of shot attempts during their ice time together.
The Boston Bruins, currently on a downward trend with a record of 2-7-0 since an early-season win against Buffalo, are looking to turn things around. Key players David Pastrnak and Morgan Geekie have carried the offense, with Pastrnak near the top of the league in points and Geekie scoring six goals in his last five games.
As the Sabres prepare for the pivotal matchup at 7 p.m., they aim to leverage recent defensive lapses by the Bruins in hopes of securing that elusive road win.
