Burrowing Owls Returned to Lake Havasu City After Relocation

Lake Havasu City, Arizona — Four burrowing owls were released back into the wild on Thursday after being temporarily relocated during construction at Havasupai Wash. The relocation was conducted by Wild at Heart, a nonprofit organization based in Cave Creek, Arizona.
As construction crews worked to improve the wash, the owls, which included two breeding pairs, were kept safe until the project was completed. Eric Murray, the operations and conservation manager for Wild at Heart, traveled three hours to return the birds to their original habitat.
Murray expressed satisfaction with the return process, stating, “It’s important to ensure that these owls have a safe environment to thrive.” The owls were relocated to avoid any harm during the construction work, which is essential for habitat preservation.
Residents of Lake Havasu City are encouraged to be mindful of the owls as they resume their activities. A sign was placed in the area to inform the community about how to protect the birds. The return of the burrowing owls is a significant step in maintaining the local ecosystem and promoting wildlife conservation in the area.
The project and subsequent owl relocation were part of ongoing efforts to preserve the natural habitats of wildlife in Arizona.
