Byhalia Indians Football Team Game Winning Pass

Holly Springs, MS — The Byhalia Indians claimed a dramatic 28-22 victory over the Holly Springs Hawks in a thrilling homecoming game at Sam Coopwood Park on Friday night.

With just 18 seconds remaining, quarterback Aaron Jeffries connected with Damarlyn Anderson on a 14-yard touchdown pass, capping off a game-winning drive that included a crucial 47-yard completion earlier. This win marked Byhalia’s third consecutive triumph.

“A testament of our program’s growth is that game-winning drive,” said head coach Reginald Davis. “Our kids are taking ownership of our program. We had a great week of preparation and had an all-business mentality heading into the game.”

The Indians got on the board first with a 2-yard touchdown run by C.J. Wilson. However, the Hawks quickly countered — Chardarius Faulkner broke free for a 65-yard gain, leading Martavion Davis to score on a 1-yard keeper. Davis also converted the two-point attempt, giving Holly Springs an 8-6 lead.

Byhalia responded strongly in the second quarter, securing two touchdowns with a 51-yard run by Jeffries and a 28-yard run by Wilson. Tyler Perkins and Jeffries successfully converted two-point attempts, pushing the score to 22-8 by halftime.

The Hawks fought back in the second half. Kyson Isom scored on a 14-yard touchdown run, narrowing the gap to eight points. A thrilling final sequence saw Faulkner score again with a 3-yard run and convert a two-pointer, tying the game at 22.

But Byhalia wasn’t done yet. In their final drive, the Indians covered 65 yards in six plays, showcasing impressive teamwork and poise under pressure.

“I’m proud of our kids for continuing to play, whether something good or bad happened,” Davis added, praising the leadership of captains Perkins, Jeffries, Anderson, and Jabari Dockery.

Holly Springs’ head coach Clifford Brown acknowledged his team’s fighting spirit despite the loss and noted significant improvements. Looking ahead, the 3-2 Indians are set to face the undefeated Senatobia Warriors this Thursday, while the 0-5 Hawks will visit the Independence Wildcats on Friday, with both games marking district openers.
