Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas Celebrate 25 Years of Marriage
NEW YORK, USA — Oscar winners Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary this week. Zeta-Jones, who hails from Swansea, marked the occasion with a heartfelt Instagram post featuring a series of photos showcasing their journey together.
“I love you today as I did then,” Zeta-Jones wrote, recalling their wedding on November 18, 2000, in New York City. Douglas also paid tribute to his wife in a post, saying, “Happy 25th anniversary, my darling Catherine. Who knew?”
The couple first met at the Deauville Film Festival in France in August 1998. Douglas famously used a direct line that evening, stating, “I want to be the father of your children.” In response, Zeta-Jones humorously remarked years later, “You know what the worst thing is? He was right.”
In an earlier interview this year, Zeta-Jones reflected on their marriage, stating that many doubted it would last. Celebrating the milestone, she described it as “really quite thrilling.” Douglas has frequently visited Wales and expressed his fondness for the country, despite its unpredictable weather.
Both stars have garnered significant acclaim in their careers, with Zeta-Jones earning an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2003 for her role in “Chicago.” She also won a Tony Award for her Broadway debut in “A Little Night Music.” In 2010, Zeta-Jones was appointed a CBE during the Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Over the years, the couple has welcomed two children, son Dylan, 25, and daughter Carys, 22. Recently, Carys made headlines for wearing a dress previously donned by her mother at a prestigious event.
As their anniversary approach, both Zeta-Jones and Douglas reflected on their lives together. Zeta-Jones concluded her anniversary post with gratitude towards her husband, saying, “Thank you sweetheart,” expressing the love that continues to flourish between them.
