CBI to Produce Arvind Kejriwal Before Trial Court Ahead of Crucial Supreme Court Hearing
In a significant development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is set to present Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal before a trial court, which may lead to his potential arrest by the central agency. This move comes ahead of a crucial hearing scheduled in the Supreme Court on the same day.
Arvind Kejriwal was reportedly questioned by the CBI in Tihar Jail regarding the liquor policy case, with his statement being recorded by the agency. Following this, the CBI lodged an application before a special court seeking a production warrant for Kejriwal, which was subsequently granted.
The CBI is expected to produce Arvind Kejriwal before the trial court at 10 am, just before the commencement of the Supreme Court hearing. Despite being in judicial custody in an Enforcement Directorate case, the CBI’s potential arrest of Kejriwal could prevent his release from Tihar Jail even if the Delhi High Court‘s stay on his bail is overturned by the Supreme Court.
Reacting strongly to these developments, the Aam Aadmi Party accused the CBI of allegedly plotting to fabricate a false case against Arvind Kejriwal.
