Cbi Takes Over Doctor Murder Investigation

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has stepped in to take over the case of a trainee doctor’s alleged rape and murder at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. This follows a recent decision by the Calcutta High Court, which was not pleased with how the Kolkata Police were handling the investigation.

On August 9, the body of the 31-year-old doctor was found, and shortly after, Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer, was arrested. The court expressed concerns, stating there had been little to no significant progress in the case.

On Wednesday, a CBI team, which includes medical and forensic experts from Delhi’s AIIMS, visited the crime scene in the hospital. They’re determined to uncover what happened and how Roy could access restricted areas of the hospital as a civic volunteer.

Initially, after his arrest, Roy was taken to ESI Joka Hospital for a medical check-up. However, he was moved to BR Singh Hospital amid protests from a group of doctors who were not comfortable with his presence there.

After his examination, the CBI took Roy into custody. They’ve organized a team of 25 officials to thoroughly investigate the case. Some of the officers will be gathering information from the hospital staff who were working on the night of the incident.

Officials have revealed they will also be looking through the call records of the deceased doctor and those who were on duty that evening. This new approach might provide crucial insights into the case.
