As the festive season of Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) approaches, various cities across the United States are gearing up to celebrate this vibrant Mexican holiday. This year, the celebrations will take place from October 25 to November 2, 2024, honoring the lives of loved ones who have passed away.

In Indianapolis, the Eiteljorg Museum is hosting a Día de Muertos Community Celebration on Saturday, October 26, 2024. The event, in collaboration with Arte Mexicano en Indiana and Nopal Cultural, will feature mesmerizing performances, artist meet-and-greets, and demonstrations that highlight the rich history and cultural significance of this holiday. A key attraction will be the Día de Muertos Community Art and Altar Exhibit, where the community will honor their loved ones through intricate ofrendas (offerings).

In Albuquerque, New Mexico, Old Town will transform into a vibrant celebration ground from October 25 to November 2, 2024. The festivities include a Day of the Dead Bike Tour, a Catrina Parade, and various cultural performances. There will also be workshops on incense and taper candle making, along with a “Build an Ofrenda” craft event. The celebration will culminate with the Annual Santisima DDLM Celebration and a Marigold Parade in the South Valley.

In Mankato, Minnesota, the Day of the Dead event on October 26, 2024, aims to honor and preserve cultural traditions while promoting unity and understanding. The event, held along the 300-600 blocks of Riverfront Drive, will include cultural performances, local artists, and crafts, fostering a welcoming space for everyone to learn about and commemorate this rich cultural heritage.

Milwaukee‘s Mitchell Park Domes will also host a Día de los Muertos celebration on Friday, October 25, 2024. The event will feature a mariachi band, Día de los Muertos dancers, local artists, crafts, and ofrendas. Food vendors will add to the festive atmosphere, making it a comprehensive celebration of Latin American culture.

In San Antonio, Texas, the Day of the Dead San Antonio River Parade will take place on Friday, October 25, 2024. This event promises a spectacular display along the San Antonio River, with tickets available for various viewing areas. The parade is part of a broader celebration that honors the deceased with traditional and modern festivities.
