Planned Parenthood Celebrities Support Ad

NEW YORK, May 21, 2025 — More than 250 celebrities have united to support Planned Parenthood in light of recent threats against the organization under President Donald Trump. The star-studded names appear in a full-page ad published today in The New York Times.

The ad, featuring the powerful message “I’m for Planned Parenthood,” highlights statements like, “Because I’m for freedom… because I’m for healthcare… because I’m for you and me — not the government — deciding what care we need and where we can get it.” Among the music icons signing the ad are Meghan Trainor, Phoebe Bridgers, Cyndi Lauper, and Gracie Abrams.

Actor Laverne Cox expressed her support in a statement, saying, “Trans people need health care providers they can trust, just like everyone else. Planned Parenthood health centers are a lifeline for many across this country who rely on them for inclusive care.”

Other notable signatures include Scarlett Johansson, Cara Delevingne, Natasha Lyonne, and Alyssa Milano, reflecting a strong coalition from various industries advocating for women’s healthcare rights. Alexis McGill Johnson, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, commended these “cultural changemakers” for their support.

The advertisement emphasizes the critical role of Planned Parenthood, noting that one in four people in the U.S. have visited their centers for a variety of health services, including cancer screenings, STI testing, and gender-affirming care.

In her remarks, Johnson stated, “Every day, Planned Parenthood health center staff open the doors to ensure patients can access essential health care. Planned Parenthood plays an irreplaceable role in our health system.”

This public display of support comes as the Trump administration has enacted policies aimed at limiting access to reproductive health services. An executive order at the start of his term sought to eliminate federal funding for elective abortions, raising concern for many about the future of reproductive healthcare.

Today’s ad aims not only to rally support for Planned Parenthood but also to raise awareness about the ongoing struggle for reproductive rights in the U.S., where attacks on healthcare access are increasing.
