CenterPoint Energy Launches State-Specific Social Media Accounts for Regional Updates
HOUSTON, Texas — CenterPoint Energy announced Tuesday the launch of state-specific social media accounts on X (formerly Twitter) for Texas, Indiana, Ohio, and Minnesota, aiming to provide localized updates to customers across its service territories. The initiative, effective Jan. 14, 2025, will deliver tailored content on company news, energy efficiency tips, weather updates, and outage information.
The new accounts — @CenterPoint_TX, @CenterPoint_IN, @CenterPoint_OH, and @CenterPoint_MN — will complement the company’s main enterprise account. Customers in Louisiana and Mississippi will continue to receive updates through the primary account until the sale of natural gas assets in those states is finalized in the first quarter of 2025.
“We are always working to listen to our customers, incorporate their feedback into our operations and communications, and improve the methods and content we deliver,” said Keith Stephens, Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer at CenterPoint Energy. “By following these new accounts, customers will continue to receive relevant and timely information impacting their communities at a more targeted, regional level.”
CenterPoint Energy will also maintain geotargeting on Facebook and Nextdoor to deliver state-specific content, while LinkedIn and Instagram will remain enterprise-level channels for broader updates. The company serves more than 7 million metered customers across six states, with operations spanning electric transmission, power generation, and natural gas distribution.
Founded over 150 years ago, CenterPoint Energy employs approximately 9,000 people and is the only investor-owned electric and gas utility based in Texas. The company’s expansion into state-specific social media accounts reflects its commitment to enhancing customer communication and engagement.
